When the snow falls on the peaks of the snowy mountains during winter, thousands of ski holidayers choose to make, if only for a short time, Jindabyne their home. Staying in Jindabyne for many has its benefits, accommodation at a fraction of the cost of Thredbo or Perisher, a wide range of nightlife, hotels clubs and pubs plus the option of choosing the daily place to ski and the half hour drive to either resort, Thredbo or Perisher.

In summer Lake Jindabyne is a thrive of activity in summer's long lazy days where any imaginable watersport and activity can be had from fishing to sailing, water skiing and wind surfing. Along the lakes forseshore there are sailing clubs, canoe hire, sailboard hire and water skiing.

Outside the town Thredbo becomes alive with activities such as Thredbo Blues Festival and the Thredbo Jazz Festival whilst Thredbo Valley with horse riding and mountain bikes take centre stage.

SHOPPING IN JINDABYNE

Nugget’s Crossing presents the best of high country shopping in one central location, including an award winning bakery, supermarket, restaurants, cafés, banks and newsagent. Specialty shops include gifts and souvenirs, photographic gallery, sportswear and clothing, Sunglass Hut and hair salon.

The more active visitor can avail themselves of resort information, camping and outdoor equipment, ski and snowboard equipment and clothing. Nugget’s Crossing is also home to a fully equipped medical centre, pharmacy, real estate agencies including accommodation booking services and travel agency.

Every town has a place where the locals lurk for good eating, and generally that's where the visitors follow.


Sundance Bakery is a favourite haunt of the lunchtime locals in Nugget’s Crossing, so it's not surprising that this is where you'll find the best breakfast and lunchtime meals in Jindabyne. Serving pastries, cakes, pies and breads of high distinction, hot meals, eat in/take away, at Sundance you can feed an army or enjoy your own company over a quiet cuppa. Just don't tell everyone - the locals like it that way!
